Under the jurisdiction of Sichuan, Dazhou is an important industrial city and a transportation

hub with large population and resources as well as a nationwide known old revolutionary area.

It is called “Ba People’s Hometown, Red Dazhou and Gas Capital of China”.

Dazhou is the birthplace of the Ba Culture and one of the

cradles of the Ba Civilization with culture relics; it is also

the Sichuan-Shaanxi revolutionary base; it is also the

starting point of the Sichuan to East Gas Transmission with

Dazhou is an intersection city of Xi’an-Dazhou-Chongqing High-speed Railway and

Chengdu-Nanchong-Dazhou High-speed Railway and a node in the Eight Verticals

and Eight Horizontals Railway Transportation Network. It ranks the second in Sichuan

Province in terms of freight volume by roads, railways, water and air.

金垭机场可直飞北京、上海、广州、深圳、杭州、昆明等城市；

Corridor and special Dazhou trains of China-European Freight Train;

it has reached a total expressway mileage of 547 km open to traffic

within its territory; the Dazhou Jinya Airport offers direct flights to

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Kunming and

other cities; it has gotten 16 rivers open to navigation, and Qujiang

Navigation has direct ships from Chongqing to Shanghai.

On December 18, 2021, Sichuan Kaijiang Economic Development was expanded and renamed as

Sichuan Dazhou Eastern Economic Development Zone with an approval from Sichuan Provincial

People’s Government. This Zone is situated at the core of junction of Wanzhou, Dazhou and Kaizhou,

and at the east of the downtown Dazhou; The Direct Management Area occupies nearly 375 square

kilometers and boasts a population of about 196,000. Kaijiang County Management Area occupies 78

square kilometers and boasts a population of about 59,000.
