GMECS Pavilion

Under the background of industry 4.0, more and more enterprises

realize that Machine Vision plays an important role in the manufacturing

industry, which can improve the efficiency and reduce the production

cost, achieving the maximum production. The 2020 Machine Vision

Market Report was released by CMVU, showing that in 2020, the sales

of the Machine Vision industry in China reached RMB14.42 billion in

2020, an increase of 13.6% year-on-year. According to CMVU's forecast,

China's Machine Vision industry is expected to grow further, the

compound annual growth rate will reach 28% between 2021 – 2023.

As the most influential Machine Vision show in China, Vision China

(Shanghai) will in terms of both exhibits and events closely follow

the market trend with the development of intelligent manufacturing,

bringing the latest products and solutions to professional audiences.

Vision China (Shanghai) 2021 brought around 215 exhibitors, using over

15,000 sqm of exhibition space. 79,453 professional visitors visited the

show. The exhibition range covers Machine Vision core components

and accessories, including smart camera, board, software package,

accessories, industrial lens, lighting source, image processing systems

and Machine Vision systems.

As part of the VDMA Robotics + Automation sector, VDMA Machine

Vision represents more than 120 members, which are active in the

field of Machine Vision systems and components manufacturing. This

industry-driven platform is designed to support the field of Machine

Vision through a wide range of activities and services. Since 2018,

VDMA Machine Vision has cooperated with GMECS (German Mechanical

Engineering Commercial Services Shanghai Branch) for offering a VDMA

sponsored joint pavilion at the Vision China Shanghai Show. The aim

is to strengthen the visibility and presence of VDMA members to the

Chinese market.

Semiconductor Equipment Market

China, the world's factory, is a major producer of electronic products and accordingly one of

the largest markets for electronic manufacturing equipment. In its Worldwide Semiconductor

Equipment Market Statistics Report (WWSEMS), SEMI noted that global semiconductor

manufacturing equipment sales surged 19% from $59.8 billion in 2019 to a record high of $71.2

billion in 2020. For the first time, mainland China became the world's largest semiconductor

equipment market in 2020, with sales increasing 39% to $18.72 billion.1

Info for New Members - About HR Roundtables:

The roundtable series is aiming for Top Executives, HR managers or officers from

VDMA members in China to inform them about current lead topics that effect their

HR Operation.

In cooperation with selected industrial and business experts the target is to provide

VDMA Members who are having concerns and need strategic guidance for their

operations in China. During the event you will have this unique opportunity to

discuss and exchange ideas with your peers from HR perspective, and learn from

the experts and from each other.

Presentation 1

During the last two years the ongoing pandemic and the resulting travel restriction

have challenged many German and European mechanical engineering companies

who are doing a large sum of their business in China.

China is Germany's second biggest export market for the capital goods industry. In

2020 the export volume was roughly 16 billion euros and in 2021 this number grew

by an estimated 13%.

Many machines and products must be installed and commissioned in China.

Before Covid19 companies were able to send out their experts to China without

any problems. Today however, it is difficult to receive the invitation letters from the

Chinese government authorities in order to apply for the visa and travel documents.

Additionally, travelers to China have to undergo a three week period of quarantines.

Many companies did not set up their teams in China to operate completely

independent from their headquarters. There are different reasons why this has not

been established. One argument was to safe cost. Sending people to China was

often more cost effective than hiring and training the people locally. Furthermore,

companies were concerned of about knowledge transfer. Many companies are

reorganizing their teams in order to adapt to the new situation they are in. In

this year's HR Roundtable we would like to address this topic and discuss how

to solve current problems under those harsh travel conditions. Learn from other

VDMA members how they have been dealing with the situation over the last two

years. Erwin Geissler (GM United Grinding) is going to present and talk about his

experience with United Grinding and how he was able to build up his team that he

would require in order to keep the projects in China running.

In 2014 he joined LMT Tools China Co.Ltd as Managing Director. In 2020 Erwin Geissler

The New German Supply Chain Law

Outline:

Germany's new Supply Chain Law (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz) will enter

into effect on January 1, 2023. In its first year, it will directly apply to about 600

German companies and their dominated subsidiaries in other countries. The law aims

at reducing risks relating to especially employment related human rights and to the

Ralph Koppitz studied law in Munich and Mandarin in Beijing. Based in China since

1997, he advises international companies regarding their China

engagements. From 2002 to early 2020, he headed the Shanghai

Science and Law.

For more than 20 years, his main focus has been employment

and corporate law in China. Given the close link to employment

The CEO Breakfast series is aiming for Top Executives from VDMA members in China to inform them about current

lead topics that affect their businesses.

Michael Tan has more than 20 years of experience advising international

companies’ operation in and with China. He has profound experience advising

industrial clients in various sectors, which covers all legal aspects of a typical

investment deal like market entry and joint ventures, M&A restructuring

and exit. Throughout his two decades’ practice, Michael has been gradually

converging his energy on technology driven business and has built up his

reputation and connections in the circle.

As the first Chinese partner of Taylor Wessing, Michael is now heading the

firm's TMC practice for China. Besides his expertise regarding the general

privacy protection areas. Michael holds CIPP/E certification as granted by the
