Russian Emeralds
With emerald deposits first discovered in Russian Ural Mountains in
early 19th century, Russian emeralds was quickly reputed for their
intense green hue, vivid saturation and striking brilliance.
The production and appreciation of the gem, coinciding Tsar’s reign,
sets deeply in Russia’s rich court history. Premium and large emeralds
discovered were made into the most elegant crown jewellery, including

Red Spinels
Before becoming a gem collectors’ favourite, red spinel has long been
the royal’s preferred gemstone. Its stunning, intense red hue that led
to misidentification as a ruby, helped established spinels’ important
prescence in British, French Iranian and Russian crown jewellery. Most
infamously the ‘Black Prince’s Ruby’ and ‘Timur Ruby’ from British
heritage. Its rich history also ties with the symbolism of vitality, passion
and strength upon its wearer.
The appeal of red spinel also comes from the rarity of a fine specimen.
One that displays excellent colour saturation, clarity, and weighing over
20 carats, is the most prized and desirable stone for any gemstone
connoisseurs.

Demantoid Garnets and Horsetail Inclusions
Chrysotile inclusions, commonly known as ‘horsetail’, are spray-like
fine needle crystals that can be found in demantoids from Russia, Italy
and Iran. Demantoid garnet was originally discovered in the Central
Ural region of Russia in the 19th century, stones from this region are
still considered the most desirable. Specimens with the distinctive
‘horsetail’ type inclusions are prized and sought after by collectors.
A distinctive ‘horsetail’ in demantoid is sought after and considered
valuable by most. This stone has lovely examples of horsetail
inclusions, a true collector’s gem.
