In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM) In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM) is based on the principle of optical confocal imaging. It utilizes the reflected light from a low-energy laser source focused by the system on specific layers of the skin to generate images, provides non-invasive imaging of skin lesions at cellular-level magnification and ultra-high resolution, demonstrating good consistency with dermatopathological examinationsand effectivelyreducingunnecessarybiopsies.

RCM generates images with varying degrees of brightness based on the differences in relracive index of microstnuctures with in the skin tissue.Due to its cross-sectional imaging characteristics,it enables layer-by-ayer scanning of the skin fom supericial to deep, similar to Computed Tomography (CT),and is thus figuraively referred to as "Skin CT."
