SPRING EQUINOX
As the fourth solar term in China's traditional 24-season calendar, the Spring Equinox carries profound cosmic poetry in its name. The character "Fen" (分) here holds dual meanings that mirror nature's grand choreography.
First, it signifies the "equilibrium of light" - on this day when the sun is directly above the equator, the scales of day and night achieve perfect balance across the globe. As the sun begins its northward journey after this date, the Northern Hemisphere gradually tilts toward lengthening daylight, while southern lands witness nights deepening like ink spreading across parchment.
The second meaning unfolds as a "seasonal bisector." In ancient China, spring was measured from the Beginning of Spring to the Beginning of Summer, with the Spring Equinox positioned precisely at the midpoint.
春分是中国传统二十四节气中的第四个节气,春分的“分有两个含义,一个是“昼夜平分”,在春分这天,太阳直射赤道,昼夜等长。
春分过后,太阳直射点向北移动,导致北半球白昼逐渐变长,南半球的夜越来越长。
春分的另一个含义是“季节平分”。古时,以立春到立夏之间为春季,春分日正处于两个节气之中,正好平分了春季。

Ma Yongsheng: Empowering Development of Energy I and Chemical Industry through Sci-tech
In March 2025, the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), collectively known as China's "Two Sessions" were held in Beijing. During the Two Sessions, Ma Yongsheng, Member of the CPPCC, Academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chairman of Sinopec, emphasized during an exclusive interview with People's Daily Online (people. cn) that new industrialization embodies both continuity and innovation. Advancing new industrialization for the energy and chemical industry requires prioritizing highend development, intelligent transformation, and green transition.
Technological Innovation Drives High-End Development Amid structural shifts in the global energy system,
Ma Yongsheng emphasized that advancing the highend development of the energy and chemical industry necessitates elevating the value chain and added value of products, achieving a profound transformation from scale-driven expansion to high-quality development."
He stated that efforts should focus on offering more high-quality technological solutions. This includes persistently strengthening R&D activities in key upstream oil and gas technologies to expedite the establishment of a new-generation engineering process and high-performance equipment system to support the increase in oil and gas reserve growth and production enhancement; expediting the development of pioneering refining technologies through deepened fundamental theoretical research and intensified innovation in the integrated refining and petrochemical technologies, while strategically aligning refining strategies with the anticipated peak in refined oil demand; advancing breakthroughs in key technologies for high-end chemical materials and scaling up R&D for high-value-added products; and accelerating technological exploration in emerging fields such as deep geothermal energy, hydrogen, circular economy, and biomanufacturing. In addition, the innovation consortiums should be established alongside enterprise-led mechanisms for deep integration of industry, academia, and research, to facilitate the transformation of a more scientific and technological achievements from prototypes into commercialized products.
Digital-Intelligent Technologies Reshape Industrial Ecosystems
In response to the wave of new-generation Al advancements, Ma Yongsheng emphasized that digital technologies and artificial intelligence enhance oil and gas exploration efficiency and resource utilization. These innovations propel the refining and chemical industries from molecular/desktop-based refining processes to digital refining and digital chemical engineering, while upgrading standalone smart factories into ubiquitous smart interconnected plants, thereby establishing new competitive edges in the industry.
MaYongsheng emphasized that Sinopecwill evaluate the support roles of new-generation information technologies to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. This initiative aims to build a revitalized ecosystem for the petrochemical sector, pioneering innovative digital trade and service models, and establish a cutting-edge industrial framework, thereby injecting new vitality into traditional industries through digital-intelligent empowerment integration. The company will drive high-quality Al adoption across core domains such as production, operations, and management, while leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Al to redefine scientific research paradigms. This holistic approach will empower comprehensive technological transformation and strategic optimization.

Green Initiatives Nurture New Engines of Growth
Ma Yongsheng emphasized that advancing green development requires strengthening carbon asset management,acceleratinggreenand low-carbonindustrial transformation, and fostering green and low-carbon industries to continuously cultivate emerging growth drivers and expand development space.
He proposed that the energy and chemical industry should focus on optimizing and adjustment of industrial and energy consumption structures, adopting a holistic approach to reduce carbon emissions, minimize pollution and expand green initiatives, and fostering sustainable growth from the source. This involves implementing energy-saving and consumption-reducing measures throughout the entire lifecycle of green oil and gas field production, promoting the multi-energy complementary development of mature oil and gas fields while fostering the integrated development of new oil and gas fields with renewable energy. The green refining and chemical sector should enhance energy efficiency and effectiveness across the feedstock-to-product chain in green refining industries to establish the green circular systems. Additionally, efforts should be accelerated to build a deeply integrated industry-academia-research innovation system, aiming to break through key core technologies and build green, low-carbon competitiveness through advanced green technologies.

科技赋能绘就能源化工行业发展蓝图
2025年3月,全国两会在中国北京召开。两会期间,全国政协委员、中国工程院院士、中国石化董事长马永生接受人民网专访时强调,新型工业化具有继承性和创新性,能源化工行业走好新型工业化道路,就是要推动高端化、智能化、绿色化发展。
科技创新驱动高端发展
面对全球能源体系结构性变革,马永生指出,推动能源化工行业高端化发展,要不断提升产品价值链和附加值,实现从大到强的深刻转变。
他表示,要努力提供更多高质量科技供给。持续强化油气上游关键技术研发,加快形成新一代支撑油气增储上产工程工艺和高性能装备技术体系;加快引领性炼油技术开发,深化基础理论研究,加大炼化一体化技术创新力度,强化应对成品油需求达峰的炼油技术战略布局;加快化工新材料关键技术开发,加大高附加值产品研发力度;加快深层地热、氢能、循环经济、生物制造等新兴领域的技术开发。同时组建创新联合体、建立企业主导的产学研深度融合机制,推动更多科技成果从样品变成产品、形成产业。
数智技术重塑产业生态
针对新一代人工智能技术发展浪潮,马永生强调数字技术与人工智能有利于提升油气勘探开发与资源利用水平,推动炼油化工从分子炼油、桌面炼油向数字炼油、数字化工延伸,从“单体智能工厂”向“泛在智能互联工厂”升级,构筑起新的产业竞争优势。
马永生表示,中国石化将发挥新一代信息技术的赋能支撑作用,加快对传统产业进行改造升级,构建石化产业新生态、数字服贸新业态、现代工业新体系,让传统产业在数智赋能中焕发新生。高质量推进生产、经营、管理等重点领域的人工智能应用,用人工智能等新型技术手段构建科学研究新范式,全方位赋能产业技术变革和优化升级。
绿色低碳培育发展动能
马永生认为,推动绿色化发展,就是要加强碳资产管理、产业绿色低碳转型、绿色低碳产业发展,不断培育新兴动能、拓展发展空间。
他提出,能源化工行业要以推进产业结构、用能结构优化调整为重点,从源头上做好降碳减污扩绿增长文章。绿色油气田生产全过程节能降耗,推动老油气田多能互补、新油气田与新能源融合发展;绿色炼化产业由原料到产品全链条节能增效,打造绿色循环体系;加快建立产学研深度融合的技术创新体系,加快突破关键核心技术,以绿色技术构筑绿色低碳竞争力。

"Green productivity is flourishing, with wind power, photovoltaic energy, and new energy vehicles leading the world," and "deepening consensus on transformation across enterprises and industries to drive green industrial upgrading"... The term "green" was repeatedly highlighted at the recent press conference during recently concluded China's TwoSessions. Inthe2025GovernmentWork Report, the word "green" appeared 16 times, showing a significant increase in frequency compared to previousyears.
Addressing climate challenges is vital for the future of our planet, and green transition has become a global imperative. Sinopec is fully committed to advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy and chemical industries, actively advancing international green collaborations, and empowering global modernization efforts through a Chinese approach to harmoniouscoexistencebetween humanity and nature, Sinopec aims to contribute and accelerate the achievement of global net-zero
emissions goals.
Green Energy Revitalizes Industries
Sinopec is accelerating the development of diverse green energy sources, including hydrogen, wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass energy. The integrated “oil and gas ^+ new energy" multi-energy complementary framework is rapidly taking shape, bringing the vision of a greener energy sector closer to reality.
In the lush mountains of Fuling, Sichuan, the Fuling Shale Gas Field is a critical source for the Sichuan-to-East China Gas Pipeline, it produces over 25 million cubic meters of gas daily. In the heart of the Dabie Mountains, Sinopec has completed a tea-and-photovoltaic complementary project in Yuexi, Anhui province, with over 5,000 photovoltaic stations already in operation and plans to reach 10,000 by around 2027.
In Yuen Lung,Hong Kong, Sinopec built the city's first hydrogen refueling station at Au Tau, it supports Hong Kong's green mobility transition with a daily capacity of 1,000 kg. Meanwhile, in the vast Gobi Desert of northwest China, the Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project, capable of producing 10,000 tons of hydrogen annually via photovoltaic power, runs smoothly. As the largest hydrogen producer in China and the global leader in the number of hydrogen refueling stations, Sinopec is pioneering a safe, efficient, and sustainable hydrogen development.
By the end of 2024, Sinopec's cumulative geothermal heating capacity had reached 120 million cubic meters, reducing carbon dioxide ( \bigcirc\bigcirc emissions by over 5.9 million tons annually.
"Today, almost every energy story in the world is, at its core, a China story," remarked Fatih Birol, Executive Director of IEA, praising China's leadership in global green energy.
Green Technology Fuels Innovation According to IEA estimates to achieve the global net-zero emissions target for the energy systems by 2050, it will require carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies to contribute 8% of global emissions reductions .

Sinopec's researchers overcame numerous technical challenges like "enabling an area of the size of a fingernail to withstand a weight of 120\;{\sfkg}^{\prime} to build up China's first million-ton-scale CCUS project. The company also launched the nation's first open-access10- million-ton scale CCUS research initiative in East China in the collaboration with Shell, China Baowu Steel, and BASF.
At Zhenhai Refining, the bio-aviation fuel industrial facility utilizes Sinopec's proprietary production technology. This facility is capable of processing recycled cooking oil equivalent to the amount generated by a city with a population of 10 million. In late February, Sinopec supplied bio-aviation fuel to Hong Kong for the first time, marking a milestone in sustainable aviation.
Green Actions Protect Our Planet
Sinopec initiated China's first "Waste-free Group" pilot project, achieving significant progress in the standardization, reduction, resource utilization, and safe disposal of solid waste.
In Ecuador's Andes project, Sinopec upholds "a zero environmental pollution mandate, safeguarding rainforests" as its core in operation. The project is dedicated to protecting the tropical rainforest, often referred to as the “lungs of the Earth". All solid waste is recycled, sorted, and reused, while all liquid waste is recycled, treated, and reinjected, achieving zero waste discharge.
In Saihanba, or "beautiful highlands" in Mongolian, Sinopec planted nearly 1,oo0 acres of ecological forests, contributing to the creation of a “green miracle." On the Tibetan Plateau, the company also supports afforestation of2,276.8 acres in Lhasa's mountains, set for completion by 2027.
In Kuwait's deserts, Sinopec's project camp surrounding area has become an ecological oasis, with trees, flowers, and vegetable gardens. "You've brought a green gift to the desert,"said a local Bedouin herder.
"The green and low-carbon transitionis anirreversibletrendofour times," said Sinopec Chairman Ma Yongsheng in a recent interview with People's Daily Online. Sinopec is driving industry-wide transformation by:
* Founding the Energy and Chemical Industry Carbon Footprint Alliance
* Launching the Innovation Center for Chemical Recycling of Waste Plastics.
* Joining the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW).
Winning “China's Low-Carbon Role Model" for 13 consecutive years—one of themost awarded energy enterprised in China.
"I'vefalleninlovewiththis green steel plant by the sea,"said Manin·an American deputy production manager at Zhenhai Chemical. As he enjoyed the gentle sea breeze and gazed at the colorful sunset, he now considers here as his second home.
For Manin and other international partners, the green has become Sinopec's defining color, in the egrets of theEast China Sea,the kingfishers at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains, and the finless porpoises of the Yangtze River, all witnesses to Sinopec's commitment to the green development.

“绿色生产力蓬勃发展,风电、光伏、新能源汽车领跑世界”“深化企业行业转型共识,助推产业绿色升级”….…··在刚刚过去的全国两会新闻发布会上,“绿色”被频频提及。2025年政府工作报告中,“绿色”一词出现16次,频次较过去显著增加。
应对气候挑战关乎地球未来,绿色转型成为全球人类的必答题。中国石化全力推进能源化工行业绿色低碳转型,积极开展绿色国际合作,以人与自然和谐共生的中国式现代化赋能世界现代化,助力全球净零排放目标尽早实现。
绿色能源盘活一池春水
中国石化加快推动氢能、风能、太阳能、地热能、生物质能等多种绿色能源发展,能源行业的“绿意”加速照进现实。
远山如黛,万木葱笼,川气东送的重要气源地之一—涪陵页岩气田日产气量超2500万立方米。大别山腹地,春和景明,中国石化在安徽岳西建成茶光互补项目,累计建成5000余座光伏站点,2027年前后将建成一万座。
在新界元朗凹头,中国石化建成香港首座加氢站,以1000公斤的日加氢能力助力香港“氢”装上阵;西北戈壁,新疆库车万吨级光伏制绿氢示范项目正平稳运行。中国石化积极推动氢能安全、高效、可持续发展和国际合作,成为能源转型和绿色低碳发展的先行者。
截至2024年底,中国石化地热供暖能力累计达1.2亿立方米,每年减排二氧化碳超590万吨。
“我们现在所处的世界,几乎所有的能源故事本质上都是中国故事。”《世界能源展望2024》发布会上,国际能源署署长比罗尔对中国引领全球绿色能源发展做出高度评价。
绿色科技“碳”寻发展引擎
据国际能源署测算,为达到2050年全球能源系统净零排放目标,二氧化碳捕集、利用与封存(CCUS)技术的减排量需达到 8% O
中国石化科研人员突破了“让指甲盖大小的面积承受120公斤重量”等多项技术难题,建成中国首个百万吨级CCUS 项目,还与壳牌、中国宝武、巴斯夫在华东地区开展中国首个开放式千万吨级CCUS研究项目。
镇海炼化生物航煤工业装置采用中国石化自主研发的生产技术,能消化掉一座千万人口城市回收来的餐余废油。2月底,中国石化生物航煤首次供应香港,开启国际绿色航空的新
篇章。
绿色行动呵护美丽家园
从启动绿色企业行动第二阶段,到全力推进“无废集团”建设,中国石化的绿色行动每一步都坚实有力。
塞罕坝在蒙古语中是“美丽的高岭”,中国石化在此启动生态示范林项目,绿化造林近千亩,助力打造“绿色奇迹”。雪域高原上,中国石化助力西藏拉萨南北山绿化建设,2276.8亩造林绿化将于2027年前全部完成。
国勘厄瓜多尔安第斯项目守护热带雨林家园,保护“地球之肺”,实现废弃物零排放。
科威特大漠里,自中国石化项目入驻后,在周边植树、养花、种菜,营地成了沙漠里的生态地标。“你们为沙漠带来了绿色礼物。”科威特当地贝都因游牧部落牧民感慨地说。
“绿色低碳转型是不可扭转的时代潮流。”近日,中国石化董事长马永生表示中国石化以自身发展为行业带来新机遇、新动力——牵头成立能源化工产业链碳足迹联盟,发起废塑料化学循环利用产业技术创新中心,率先加入终止塑料废弃物行动联盟(AEPW),连续13年获“中国低碳榜样”称号,成为获得该奖项次数最多的中国能源企业之一。

Hi everyone, I'm Douglas from the United States. I have lived in Dongying, Shandong Province for over a decade. 1 particularly like the Longyue Lake Wetland Park here. This park boasts rare landscapes and unique wetlands. But what you didn't know is that there are actually 28 oil and water production rigs (wells) in this area. It also hides an Lai 113Block \mathsf{C O}_{2} injection station of Shengli Oilfield, which serves as one of the gas injection stations in China's first million-ton CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) project.

Many of the advancements in technology have reached the top tier in the world's oil production industry. Twenty standardized injections have been built in Shengli Oilfield. It aims to reduce \mathsf{C O}_{2} emissions by over 1 million tones annually, which is equivalent of planting over 9 million trees or taking 600,000 cars off the road per year. Furthermore, through \mathsf{C O}_{2} flooding technology, the oilfield can also increase oil production by over 3 million tons over the next 15 years, achieving the harmonious coexistence between energy development and ecological protection.

My Appreciation for the Coastal Steel Plant

The sea breeze in February carries a slight chill. The plum blossoms in the western Ningbo ZRCC Lyondell Chemical Co., Ltd (short for NZLC) have already begun to bloom. On my way to the plant inspection, dozens of red plum trees were in full bloom.
My name is Manin Joshi, and I served as the Deputy Manager of the Production Technology Department in NZLC. I came to ZRCC in 2022, initially anticipating a challenging work environment. However, I have since developed an appreciation for this coastal steel plant. The factory resembles a park, with flowers blooming all year round. Not far from here lies the seaside boardwalk, a splendid spot for post-meal strolls. The expressways crisscross above the sea, while large flocks of egrets forage here. I have been to the old oil refining area across the road where there is an impressive egret park. Various bird species live there.

Within our factory stands a huge water treatment center that has advanced equipment and technology and is dedicated to processing and reusing industrial wastewater generated by the entire Zhenhai base. Treated wastewater from our plant is transported via pipelines to this center and returned after purifying. I truly appreciate this integrated water treatment approach as it conserves resources and reduces costs.

Our factory warmly welcomes public representatives to visit. During these visits, I've encountered young children in primary school who always pose inquisitive questions. Our commitment to environmental protection extends beyond statistics displayed on dashboards. Standing on the top of the 28-floor-high PO distillation tower, I was momentarily confused as to whether the moving white patch in the distance was a cloud of steam or another group of egret scouts coming to inspect the factory.

Exploring the Beautiful Niukouyu Wetland

Hi, I'm Polchlopek Aleksandra, a French student at Beijing Foreign Studies University. On the eve of the 2024 Dragon Boat Festival, I participated in an open day event held by Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Company, together with 11 intermational students fromPeking University and other universities.
During the visit, the Niukouyu Wetland left a profound impression on me. As China's first constructed wetland within an industrial zone, it boasts a serenely beautiful environment where clusters of high-purification-capacity aquatic plants-- such as reeds and water lilies--intertwine with dry and wet meadows in alternating patterns, collectively enabling advanced purification. We observed numerous rare birds, over 140 in total. Recognized as an exemplary model for wastewater treatment in the petrochemical industry, this wetland project was showcased at the World Water Week Forum in Stockholm, Sweden, and also recognized as a case study by the United Nations Biodiversity Conference.
We also visited the hydrogen production facility. As China's first enterprise to obtain clean hydrogen certification, Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical's self-produced hydrogen was used to ignite the main torches of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and Paralympics, marking the first time in Olympic history that the main flame produced zero carbon emissions. This visit deepened my understanding of Chinese enterprises' commitment and achievements in environmental protection and sustainable development.

Collection," jointly compiled by the World Business Council for SustainableDevelopment and other organizations. The case highlights the egret habitat at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company and the ecologicalindustrial wastewater treatmentpractice at Yanshan Petrochemical, which integrates industrial wastewater compliance with a natural wetland ecologicalrestorationsystem.

参观中,牛口峪湿地给我留下了深刻印象。它是中国首个工业区内的人工湿地,环境优美宜人,成片的芦苇、睡莲等具有高净化能力的水生植物和干湿草甸交替错落,对接收的工业外排水进行深度净化。我们见到了很多珍稀鸟类,据说有140余种。这片湿地曾作为石化行业污水处理的典范,荣登瑞典斯德哥尔摩世界水周论坛,并入选联合国生物多样性保护案例。

我们还参观了氢气新能源装置。作为中国首家取得清洁氢认证的企业,燕山石化自产的氢气成功点燃北京冬奥会、冬残奥会主火炬,实现了奥运会历史上首次火炬零碳排放。这次参观也让我认识到中国企业在环境保护和可持续发展方面的努力和成就。
Deer-friendly Garden in Youth Ecological Park

I am a unique “employee" at Sinopec Henan Refining & Chemical Company—sika deer Lulu. My family and I live in the ecological park of the Company. Although I'm young, I serve as the "Environmental Monitor" here. My human colleagues have dedicated tremendous efforts to safeguard our environment.
The company has invested a total of over 2 billion yuan to establish a comprehensive system of eco-friendly facilities. A sewage treatment plant with a daily processing capacity of 50,000 tons has been constructed to purify the production wastewater. By an advanced process of "pre-treatment + biochemical treatment + advanced treatment," the wastewater is processed in keeping with the standards of Class Ill surface water.
More attention has been paid to ecological restoration. The company has planted over 200,000 trees of various species, with the factory's green coverage rate up to 35%. Through soil 1 remediation and vegetation restoration, more than 300 acres of industrial wasteland was transformed into ecological green lands, creating a multi-functional ecological park integrating ornamental, recreational, and educational purposes. More than 200 of my family members and I now thrive here - a big family!
Our sika deer family live comfortably here, where the caretakers closely monitor our physical conditions, and our human colleagues make great efforts to protect our habitat. Through technological innovations and energy optimization, our human colleagues have achieved remarkable energy savings and emission reductions. They have constructed a waste heat power generation system, with a capacity of 120 million kWh of electricity per year - equivalent to saving 48,000 metric tons of standard coal. Additionally, CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) technology has been applied to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 metric tons per year

“很难想象,为了给鱼让路,竟然搬走一座油库。”站在湖北宜昌王家河江豚观测平台上,望着长江里跃动的江豚,叙利亚籍留学生扬子内心感慨万千。
王家河油库曾是鄂西地区重要的成品油能源基地,年吞吐量达130万吨。但因其位于中华鲟洄游通道和江豚栖息地,湖北石油 2021年果断关停并拆除了这座运营63年的码头,并改造为长江大保护教育基地和江豚观测平台。油库码头变身江豚观测平台,只是中国石化湖北石油践行生态环保的一个缩影。近年来,湖北石油累计关停11座沿江油库、17座码头,投资40亿元推进生态搬迁与环保升级。
"It's hard to imagine relocating the entire tank farm to give way to fishes," remarked Yangzi, a Syrian international student, as he stood on the Wangjiahe Yangtze Finless Porpoise Observation Platform in Yichang, Hubei, watching the Yangtze Finless Porpoises leaping in the Yangtze River.
Wangjiahe oil terminal, once a critical refined oil base in western Hubei with an annual throughput of 1.3 million metric tonnes, was decisivelyshutdown anddemolished in 2021 by Sinopec Hubei Oil Products Company (HOPC), after 63 years of operation. This decision stemmed from its location on the migration route of Chinese Sturgeons and the habitat of Yangtze Finless Porpoises. The site has been transformed into an ecological educationbase andobservation platform, which was only one of many of HOPC's environmental protection practices. Over the years, HOPC has shut down 11 oil depots along the river and 17 piers and invested 4 billion yuan to promote ecological relocation and eco-friendly infrastructure upgrades.
From a transporter of "industrial blood" to a guardian of the Yangtze River's ecology, HOPC's transformation road demonstrates its resolve for green development. Yangzi recorded such a contrast: the pier, which used to be filled with pipelines, has now become a place for citizens to watch Yangtze Finless Porpoises. The relocated tank farm now is integrated with the green mountains and clear waters, interpreting the deep meaning of "harmonious coexistence between humans and nature."

Remarkable Transformation to Integrated Energy Service Station

"The ambiance here is fantastic! You can enjoy a cup of coffee or a massage and recharge yourself while your vehicle charges. If time permits, grab a quick meal or explore the supermarket." Ms. Wu, a frequent visitor to Sinopec Dazhong integrated energy service station in Hefei, Anhui province, praised enthusiastically, now a loyal patron of its diverse offerings.
The Dazhong integrated energy service station, Sinopec's first super charging and swapping integrated energy service station in China, combines ten key functions: refueling, EV charging, battery swapping, photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, retail shopping, dining, card services, public welfare initiatives, and leisure amenities. Equipped with 142 EV charging points and a collaborative battery swapping station, it can simultaneously serveover 140 electric vehicles. A vehicle can be charged as fast as in 10 minutes, while battery swaps require only 5 minutes.
Last year, the station pioneered a "virtual power plant (VPP)" system, effectively alleviating regional grid pressure. The photovoltaic panels on the sunshades generate power while the charging piles is working. The green power reaches approximately 220,000 kWh annually, which canreducecarbondioxideemissions by 219 metric tons (equivalent to planting 12,000 trees).
Sinopec Anhui Oil Products Company has successfully put into operation 515 distributed photovoltaic power generation projects, with an annual electricity generation of approximately 11.3 million kWh. We actively implemented the "Yangtze River Protection" initiative, establishing the first batch of "waste-free energy stations" in Anhui Province. Additionally, we formulated a threeyear development plan for LNG refueling stations and pursued multi-dimensional development of hydrogen energy application scenarios. These efforts collectively contribute to building a clean energy network and co-creating a green future.

大众综合能源站是中国石化首座超级充换电综合能源站,集加油、充电、换电、光伏、储能、购物、餐饮、发卡、公益、休闲十位一体,有充电车位142个,合作换电站1座,可同时为140余辆客货车提供便捷的充换电服务,充电最快仅需10分钟,换电只需5分钟。
2024年,这座站还打造了“虚拟电厂”,有效缓解了局部区域的用电压力,充电车棚也“摇身一变”成为光伏发电站,年发电量约22万千瓦时,年减排二氧化碳219吨,相当于植树1.2万棵。
通过推进绿色企业建设,安徽石油建成投用515个分布式光伏发电项目,年发电量约1130万干瓦时。我们积极践行“长江大保护”理念,打造了安徽省首批“无废加能站”,还制定LNG加注站3年发展规划,多维开发氢能应用场景,构建清洁能源网络,共创绿色未来。
Water-Borne Environmental Protection

On the vessel of the Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Company's Guangdong Sui Nan water-borne fuel station, we replaced all our old, high-consuming equipment with new, high-efficient equipment. Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Company installed around 1,200 LED lamps and 15 solar lights in 21 stations, reducing electricity usage by over 25% compared to last year. Currently, we have over 600 solar panels in service. A photovoltaic system like this helps us reduce 4800 kilowatts of power consumption.
水上的环保实践
At each station, we deploy 4 - 7 crewmemberswhowork and live on the deck to secure operational safety.We innovated the“STP Waterless Toilets,”"which solved the sewageproblemforthecrewwith no water consumed. These have already saved 345 cubic meters of water for 15 floating fuel stations
annually.Furthermore, our crew membersembracetheVersionof Green Development, as they all take part in the National Volunteer Tree Planting Campaign sponsored by Sinopec. To date, 245 crew membershave obtained certificates for volunteer tree planting.
In August 2024, we built and launched the first green integrated service area on theYangtze River mainline for Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Company—Sinopec Jiangyin Water-Borne Integrated Service Area. This facility enhances support for crews by offering essential services such as life supplies, clean freshwater, a personalized fitness area, and a reading room. With a focus on comfort and well-being, our attentive service creates a homelike atmosphere for crew members. Each year, the integrated service area provides eco-friendlyservices to approximately 8,000 vessels.

穗南水上加油站的船上,我们将16台高耗能电机更换为低耗能电机,成功让这座完全漂浮在水上的加油站船只“心脏”减负。截至目前,燃料油公司的21座水上加油站共安装了大约1200个LED灯和15个太阳能灯,照明用电量减少了 25% 以上。同时,穗南加油站安装了超过600块太阳能板,每年可节约大约4800千瓦时的用电量。
每个加油站有4\~7名常驻船员,他们在这里工作和生活,通过引入无水马桶,水上加油站完美解决了生活污水问题,每年为15座水上站节水345立方米。与此同时,公司还经常组织开展义务植树等活动,邀请船员们积极参与,目前已经有245名成员获得了义务植树证书。

I am Lydia, an employee of Sinopec from Ethiopia. In 2023, 1 came to China to participate in the World Geothermal Congress and a professional geothermal training program organized by Sinopec. This remarkable journey not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my understanding of geothermal energy's extraordinary potential.
In my homeland Ethiopia, many regions still rely on conventional energy. This journey to China allowed me to witness the "superpower" of geothermal energy. As of 2024, Sinopec's geothermal heating capacity in China has reached 120 million square meters, providing clean winter heating for 1.2 million Chinese households. Additionally, China's geothermal power generation technology continues to advance, with proj
ects gaining growing attention and demonstrating significant potential. Today, numerous Chinese cities have integrated geothermal energy into their energy supply systems to reduce carbon emissions. Thereby I realized that geothermal energy had become a solution for sustainable development.During the training program, I had learned about lots of technical and managerial experiences in geothermal energy development. Experts from all over the world shared their successful cases on the exploration, development and utilization of geothermal energy, which profoundly inspired me. China's pioneering practices in this field have ignited my optimism. I was looking forward to seeing these successful experiences applied in my homeland with continuous technological advancements.

Helping Colombia Achieve Its Climate Goals

My name is Luisa Guayarra. I am a biologist and environmental coordinatorforSIPCColombia.
Colombia is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of environment and iswellknown for itsbiodiversity.Attherecent29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Colombia promoted energy transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At COP26, it committed toreversing climate change and achieving sustainability by 2050.
As a member of SIPC Colombia, I am working to respond to the Colombian government's initiative. In 2023 and 2024, while complying with local laws and regulations, we worked with the local community to raise environmental protection awareness and reduce waste by distributing pamphlets and a series of environmental training courses. At the same time, our operations and maintenance department continues to improve the operational efficiency of our power generation equipment, thereby reducing emissions and improving air quality. In addition, we protect local flora and fauna by preventing forest fires and restricting hunting and fishing.
助力哥伦比亚实现气候目标
In 2025, we will continue our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We've committed to planting and reforesting more than 400 hectares of land to help Colombia achieve its climate goals.

作为国勘哥伦比亚公司的一员,我正和同事们一起积极响应哥伦比亚政府的倡议。2023年和2024年,我们在遵守当地法律法规的同时,与当地社区民众合作,通过分发互动小册子、举办环境培训课程等活动,逐步提高当地社区民众的环保意识,减少随意丢弃废弃物现象的发生。公司运维部门也不断提高发电设备的运行效率,从而减少排放、改善空气质量。此外,我们通过防治森林火灾、对捕猎和捕鱼予以限制来保护当地动植物群落。
2025年,我们将继续努力减少温室气体的排放,继续植树、造林,守护好这片土地,助力哥伦比亚早日实现气候目标。

As the morning mist envelops the rainforest, the sounds of the drilling crew and the cries of howler monkeys and parrots weave together to form a special symphony that tells the story of green guardianship that spans continents. Hi everyone, I'm Hussain from SaudiArabia.IworkattheAmiral Project of Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Co. Ltd. (SNEI). I often joke with my friends, "Even our carports can generate electricity here!" That's right. The photovoltaic carports in our project not only shelter from the sun but also generate enough power to meet 80% of our office's electricityneeds.
Although the installation of photovoltaic systems in Saudi Arabia is not uncommon, our approach of combining parking facilities with rooftop solar installations to maximizetheutilizationofeveryinchof space is innovative. Backend data reveals that these solar canopies generate 34.24 MWh of electricity annually—equivalent to the carbon offset of planting over 1,800 trees.

河马在沼泽中嬉戏,羚羊于灌木间跳跃一阿尔伯特湖畔的每寸土地都焕发着生机。作为环境工程师,我见证了中国石化石工建乌干达项目管理部在践行“能源至净、生活至美”品牌承诺过程中付出的努力。
由于高规格落实环保管理措施,以及积极组织和参与周边地区的环保实践活动,我们实现了“零污染”的工作成果,多次收获乌干达野生动物保护局及业主道达尔能源的表扬。
环保意识早已融入项目基因:工地上,新植的草皮牢牢抓住红土,因施工而短暂裸露的“伤口”早已愈合;线路焊接工点上,工人施工前正忙着为在作业带附近产卵的鸟妈妈盖好隔离围护。
再次走过我在去年世界环境日时亲手种下的罗望子树前,彼时瘦弱的树苗已高过腰际,新萌的绿芽一如儿时旧屋前的那片绿荫。我恍然

Hippos frolic in the marshes, antelopes leap through the shrubs—every inch of land around Lake Albert is vibrant with life. As an environmental engineer, I've witnessed the efforts of Sinopec PetroleumEngineering &Construc tion Corporation's Uganda Project Management Team in fulfilling its brand promise of "Cleaner Energy, Better Life."
Thanks to stringent implementation of environment-protecting management measures and proactive engagement in local environmental protection activities, our project has achieved zero pollution, earning many commendations from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and owner TotalEnergies.
Environmental consciousness has been deeply ingrained in the project's genes: At HDD worksites, newly planted turfgrass covers the once-damaged laterite soil— temporary scars from construction have fully healed. Along pipeline welding corridors, workers prioritized installing protective barriers for nesting birds before commencing operations, ensuring wildlife's safety in active work zones.
Passing the tamarind tree I planted onWorld Environment Day last year, I saw that the young sapling had reached my waist, its fresh green leaves rustling in the breeze—-a sound that took me back to the shade of the towering trees from my childhood. Suddenly, it clicked:"BetterLife"isn't about dramatic transformations but about helping every sapling thrive in its new home as if it neverleft the forest.

"These Greens Are Gifts From Our Chinese Friends'

I am Kumar, the safety officer of the SP-271 Drilling Rig of Kuwait Project of Sinopec Xinan Oilfield Service Corporation, hailing from India. My Chinese colleagues often emphasize theconceptthat"lucidwatersandlushmountainsareinvaluable assets," which has deeply inspired me.
To minimize the impact on the surrounding environment, we have installed soundproof panels in front of the generator room, equipped mechanical equipment such as mud pumps with zero-emission devices, and laid oil-resistant impermeable covering on the ground. We optimized drilling parameters and dynamically adjusted generator output power, effectively reducing fuel consumption. Additionally, mud and cuttings treatment tanks were used to recycle drilling cuttings, ensuring zero emission of pollutants.
We regularly collect and dispose of all industrial and domestic waste in a standardized way and have replaced traditional lamps with energy-saving lamps or solar lamps.
We installed inductive switches in public areas, set air conditioners to energy-saving mode of 26°C and encouraged staff to power off equipment when leaving workspaces.
Recently, I've transformed discarded oil drums into flowerpots and cultivated flowers and trees outside our dormi

tory. This eco-friendly lifestyle has brought me immense joy. We also utilize a wastewater treatment system to recycle domestic wastewater for irrigating the camp's "eco-garden." The rig camp has become an ecological landmark for the local Bedouin nomadic tribe, with herders often touching newly sprouted saplings and remarking, "These greens are giftsfromourChinesefriendstothedesert."

Sinopec Canada actively responded to the Canadian government's requirements for greenhouse gas emission reduction by establishing a Clean Energy Task Force in early 2021, dedicated to implementing cleaner energy solutions and creating a more sustainable future.
The company became the first to join the "Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction" program initiated by the Government of Alberta, collaborating with partners and external engineers to develop emission reduction plans. The company categorized various oilfield equipment based on emission standards and optimized chemical additive systems in high-emission oilfield operations, significantly reducing methane emissions.
Sinopec Canada has made significant strides in reducing emissions from its oil and gas operations over the past several years, and has enhanced carbon emission management and reduced methane emissions through advanced technological upgrades. Between 2019 and 2024, the company increased total operated production bynearly 17% whileachieving a 20% reduction in emissions intensity.
The total recordable emissionshave shownacommendabledownward trend,with a notable decrease from 142 thousand \mathtt{t C O}_{2}\Theta in 2019 to 133 thousand \mathtt{t C O}_{2}\mathtt{e} in 2024.From 2019 to 2024, Sinopec Canada has consistently increased its total operated production from 2.4 million \mathsf{m}^{3} \mathsf{O E} in 2019 to 2.8 million \mathsf{m}^{3} \mathsf{O E} in 2024.
Reducing emissions while increasing production is a testament to the company's effective emissions management strategies, its commitment to sustainability, and its focus on emission reduction in decision-making. This reduction demonstrates the company's dedication to improving operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
Sinopec Canada has consistently met or exceeded its government emissions reduction targets. "The company has demonstrated its ability to align its operations with regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and minimizing financial liabilities,"said the Government of Alberta.

Advancing the Hydrogen Future of Hong Kong

Hydrogen energy is recognized as a highly promising low-carbon energy source, with nations worldwide actively advancing its industrial development. The Hong Kong SAR government released its Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy in June 2024, outlining a roadmap for the region's transition toward carbon neutrality.
In November 2024, Sinopec completed the construction of the first Hydrogen Refueling Station in Yuen Lung Au Tau, Hong Kong. With the completion of construction, Sinopec Au Tau Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) will become Hong Kong's first comprehensive energy service station that offers a wide range of energy products including fuel, LPG, hydrogen, EV charging and non-fuel services. At present, the station can provide 10o0 kilograms of hydrogen a day. It takes as soon as 5 minutes to fully refuel a small or medium-sized FCEV, and 10 minutes to fully refuel a double-decker bus.
Currently, the hydrogen for the Au Tau HRS is supplied by
Sinopec's hydrogen production subsidiary in the Greater Bay Area. In the future, the HRS will incrementally increase its hydrogen refueling capacity to 2000 kilograms per day through various means, such as on-site hydrogen production, expanding the supply of green hydrogen generated from renewable electricity, and upgrading associated equipment.
In addition, Sinopec Hong Kong has been actively advancing the deployment of its PIT (Power in Time) charging network. To date, over 100 PIT charging points have been operationalized across Hong Kong.
With Sinopec's proactive efforts and leveraging Hong Kong's unique advantages as an international metropolis—"backed by the mainland and radiating global influence"- the city is poised to develop a robust green energy application industry chain. This will accelerate the realization of its carbon neutrality goals and vision for cleaner air.
引领香港氢能发展

氢能被视为极具发展潜力的低碳能源,世界各国正全力推进氢能产业发展。香港特区政府紧抓氢能发展机遇,于2024年6月发布《香港氢能发展策略》,为香港地区迈向碳中和谋划了路线图。
2024年底,在香港西北部的元朗凹头,中国石化建成了香港第一个加氢站。它将成为香港首座集“油气氢电服”于一体的综合加能站,现阶段每日加氢能力达1000公斤,最快5分钟可加满一辆中小型车辆,10分钟可加满一辆双层巴士。
目前,凹头站的氢气来源为中国石化在大湾区的氢气生产企业,未来还将增加站内制氢、绿电制绿氢等方式,同时通过升级设备,逐步将加氢能力提高至2吨/日。

此外,中国石化香港公司还积极推进PIT(充电品牌 Power inTime)网络布局,目前已在香港投营100多个PIT充电桩。
相信在中国石化的积极推动下,香港借助“背靠祖国、辐射全球”的国际化大都市优势,一定能发展好绿色能源应用产业链,早日实现碳中和目标。

Nezha Going Global: Perspectives on Revitalizing Traditional Culture
Recently, Ne Zha: The Demon Child Conquers the Sea (Ne Zha 2) has become the highest-grossing film in a single market in global box office history and topped the global animated film box office chart. The global craze for Nezha—the rebellious deity soaring on wind-fire wheels and wielding a fire-tipped spear—-reflects the meteoric rise of China's film industry and the overseas breakthrough of eastern traditional culture, bridging Chinese ancient myths with modern global audiences.
The image of Ne Zha has undergone multiple transformations throughout history. Ne Zha, which originated from Indian Buddhism, entered the Chinese theogony in Song Dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), mythical novels The Journey to the West and Fengshen Yanyi (Investiture of the Gods), solidified his iconic features. In the Journey to the West, Ne Zha is portrayed as a charming child deity endowed with limitless supernatural powers. In the Investiture of the Gods, Ne Zha originated from the reincarnation of the spiritual pearl. At the age of seven, he provoked chaos in the East Sea with lead to catastrophic consequences. After returning his "flesh and bones to his parents" to atone for his actions, he achieves "lotus rebirth" through the intervention of the Taoist immortal Taiyi Zhenren. In the end, he stood out in the apotheosis wars, became a flesh-and-blood saint, and won the scared immortality.
The 1979 animated film Ne Zha's Triumph Against Dragon King, though adapted from Investiture of the Gods, centers its narrative on the theme of "a young hero slaying evil dragons to save humanity." In contrast, the 2019 film Ne Zha 1 and its 2025 sequel Ne Zha 2 infuse the story with contemporary ethos, epitomized by defiant declarations like "The one that shapes my destiny will always be myself rather than God" and "lf heaven and earth reject me, I shall overturn this universe," reflecting modern ideals of self-awakening and rebellion. In additionally, the two films reinterpret the values of modern education by depicting the understanding, trust, support, and unconditional love from the parents.
The evolution of Nezha's image shows how traditional culture is constantly revitalized through contemporary reinterpretation, and the innova
tive narrative frameworks magnifies its lasting vitality. As emphasized by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the symposium on cultural inheritance and development, it is imperative to "Efforts must be made to uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, carry forward the fine historical traditions and write a new chapter for our times with positive energy and a pioneering spirit". Rooted in distinct cultural soil compared to the West, the global resonance of China's cultural heritage relies on modern adaptations of traditional culture IPs. By combining these narratives with modern spiritual aspirations—fostering cultural identification and emotional connection—this process not only injects new life into ancient stories, but also builds a bridge among civilizations through shared humanistic values.
In recent years, the global expansion of traditional cultural IPs has become a notable phenomenon, Last year's sensational game Black Myth: Wukong is just an example, which re-imagined The Journey to the West
as a prequel narrative. Young western audiences, driven by games, even started studying Chinese and turning to The Journey to the West. The fervent online discourse surrounding Ne Zha 2 on overseas social media platforms further demonstrates international audiences' appreciation for its content.
This year's government work report puts forward "improving the cultural industry and market systems while accelerating the development of new cultural formats," emphasizing that culture is the soul of a country and people. Excellent traditional culture, through creative transformation and innovative development, is radiating new vitality beyond time and space. We also hope to see more traditional cultural IPs expand globally and resonate across borders, serving as bridges to share China's stories with the world and promote mutual learning among civilizations.

近期,《哪吒之魔童闹海》(《哪吒2》)登顶全球影史单一市场票房榜、全球动画电影票房榜。脚踩风火轮、手持火尖枪的哪吒风靡全球的背后,折射出中国电影工业的异军突起和东方传统文化的出海出圈。
哪吒的形象曾历经多代演变,最早起源于印度佛教,宋代进入中国神谱。明代神魔小说《西游记》与《封神演义》定型了哪吒的经典形象。《西游记》中,哪吒是个可爱的儿童,但法力无边。《封神演义》中,哪吒是灵珠子转世,7岁大闹东海,惹下祸事后“剔骨肉,还于父母”,经太乙真人帮助“莲花重生”,最终在封神大战中屡立战功,肉身成圣。
1979年的动画电影《哪吒闹海》虽脱胎于《封神演义》,但故事内核聚焦在“少年屠恶龙、救百姓”上。2019年的电影《哪吒1》和2025年的《哪吒2》再次赋予了故事新的时代内核,“我命由我不由天”“若天地不容,我便扭转这乾坤”传递出现代社会的自我觉醒和反叛精神。此外,这两部电影所反映的父母对子女的理解、信任、支持,以及无条件的爱,也诠释了现代

近年来,传统文化IP出海已成为一种现象,去年风靡全球游戏领域的《黑神话:悟空》也是借用《西游记》的故事为前传。欧美年轻人甚至为了游戏攻略开始学中文、读《西游记》。《哪吒2》在海外社交媒体上引发的广泛讨论,也显示出海外观众对其内容的认可。
今年政府工作报告提出“健全文化产业体系和市场体系,加快发展新型文化业态”。文化是一个国家和民族的灵魂,优秀的传统文化经过创造性转化、创新性发展,正焕发出跨越时间和空间的新活力。我们也希望更多传统文化 IP 出海出圈,搭建起向世界讲好中国故事、促进文明互鉴的友谊桥梁。
